Top 10 NFL offensive rookies to watch

Through this blog I’m going to give my insight on rookie offensive players for the upcoming season a top ten. So the few that fell just a little short are Malcolm Floyd, Alshon Jeffery, and Doug Martin all for different reasons.

                     10. Justin Blackmon Jacksonville Jaguars WR: Blackmon was the best wide receiver coming out of college with comparisons to TO on the field. He would be a lot higher on this list if he had a better quarterback, but he has Gabbert who last year wasn’t quite ready for the NFL. Even with the lack of a great QB Blackmon should be able to get a lot of touches. In his junior year at Ok State Blackmon caught 121 passes for a little over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns. He won the Biletnikoff award twice which is the award given to the nation’s best receiver.

                9. Kendal Wright Tennessee Titans WR: with the likely absence of Britt Wright is going to have to step it up. Wright was one of the best dynamic speed receivers coming out of this draft. With either Locker or Hasselback throwing him the ball wright should definitely stretch the field. In his senior year at Baylor he had 108 catches for over 1,600 yards with 14 touchdowns.

                8. Doug Martin Tampa bay Buccaneers RB: Blount better learn how to block and catch the ball quick, but I highly doubt he does. This is the reason martin will take over at RB for the Bucs. With that offensive line and Martins vision and quickness he will shine in the offense. Greg Schiano had a similar back when he coached Rutgers his name was Ray Rice. As a senior for Boise state Martin carried the ball 263 times for one yard shy of 1,300 yards for 16 touchdowns. His career at Boise he also had an average of 10 yards a catch.

7. Stephen Hill New York Jets WR: A Georgia Tech alum with Demaryius Johnson and Calvin Johnson, Hill didn’t get thrown the ball much because GT runs the triple option offense (I will describe in a completely different blog). He’s built like a typical GT wide receiver Tall fast and can block. No matter whom the starting quarter back for Denver Hill will definitely get the ball due to his size and speed. He’s Plexico Burress but younger faster and you don’t have to worry about him shooting himself in the leg.

              6. Mohamed Sanu Cincinnati Bengals WR: Sanu was a possession receiver at Rutgers and was drafted in the 3rd round of the draft due to a sub-par 40 time. Sanu won’t need the speed he will be paired up with other weapons on offense like AJ Green, Jermaine Gresham, and fellow rookies Marvin Jones and Orson Charles. Sanu will be the number 2 receiver and play some slot receiver. He’s going to be the big receiver in the red zone this team needed last year.

             5. Colby Fleener/Dwayne Allen Indianapolis Colts TEs: both these guys are going to get a lot of playing time. The colts drafted these guys in back to back rounds. Fleener being Lucks favorite target at Stanford, and Allen coming out of the high powered Clemson offense they will both be great weapons for years. With the patriots basically creating the 2 TE system last year the colts tried to do the same and I believe they did a great job. Luck will get both of these players the ball especially with that offense being pass happy this year. Fleeners career with luck he caught 96 passes for over 1,500 yards for 18 TDs. Allens career stats at Clemson 93 passes caught for over a 1,000 yards and 12 TDs. Pretty good combination of Tight ends if you ask me.

                4. Brandon Weeden Cleveland Browns QB: now a little back ground on Weeden. He was a pitcher before he played college football. He was in the yanks minor league system for a while couple trades and injuries later he retired from baseball. He then went onto OK State to play college football. Now I believe I told you about a WR earlier he played at the same university well this is the QB that got that receiver the ball. Weeden is 27 and he’s not looking to fail again. In one of his first starts Weeden injured his thumb bad he won the game even though he had two fumbles and two Interceptions. The next week with the injury still lurking he threw 6 touchdowns. He plays injured, with heart, and with a fire underneath him.  Oh and he also beat Luck in the Tostito’s fiesta bowl 41-38 in one of the best bowl games of the year.

                3. Trent Richardson Cleveland Browns RB: Richardson is one of the best backs coming out of Alabama in a while. He’s already getting compared to AP. The Vikings where a pretty bad team until they got AP and a Quarterback. This browns team already had a pretty good defense and with a running back like Trent and a QB like Weeden the defense won’t be on the field all day. Richardson last year on 283 touches he ran the ball for over 1,600 yards and had 21 touchdowns.

                  2. Robert Griffin III Washington Redskins QB: Last year’s Heisman trophy winner RG3 is already being labeled the franchise quarter back who will save the redskins organization. In a highly defensive minded division RG3 will definitely be welcomed to the NFL with a pretty rough schedule. But his best attribute is getting out of the pocket and throwing the ball. Even though he says he’s a pocket passer with his offensive line he’s not going to be in the pocket for long against Defensive lineman like Babin and Cole in Philly, Demarcus Ware in Dallas, and Tuck JPP and Osi in new York. He will still put up good numbers though because all they will be doing is throwing the ball even though their strength is the running game.

                   1. Andrew Luck Indianapolis Colts QB: in my opinion one of the most pass happy offenses in the league due to the simple fact they don’t have a good defense. The colts will most likely be fighting on offense to keep up with the teams they play. Meaning Luck will get plenty of chances to throw the ball. As a rookie he will have a similar season to that of SuperCam from last year. With Luck being one of the best college quarterbacks to come out of Stanford he’s going to show his knowledge of the game. I don’t see many picks in lucks future. Especially since his 82 touchdowns to 22 interceptions ratio in college.
