So I'm
Will, I'm probably one of the biggest football fans out there. My team is the
Philadelphia Eagles. I Know start your laughing, joking, chuckling, and
snickering. Starting my first blog ever at the start of the football season
this should be fun.
Alright
around this time every year all the so called football fan starts their fantasy
football research. I'm going to go ahead and save you some time on your
research. I’ll be through the top three fantasy players for each position.
Really only three players per position Will? Yea only three you really think I’m
going to help you beat me ha. i will also tell you about three mid to later
round picks that should contribute to your team very well if you get them.
Let's
get this started with the most important part of your fantasy team the Kicker.
Most kickers will probably be taken in the first round so you better pick one
quick so you get a good one. Don’t listen to these so called experts that say
kickers should be taken last you’ll wind up not getting one.
Top 3 Kickers
3. Matt Prater Denver
Broncos: This is the guy that helped Teblow win every game with the help of the
Defense. With Peyton around he will get more chances to kick Field goals, and
more field goals means more fantasy points.
2. Jason Hanson Detroit Lions: With
Matt Stafford hopefully in his second straight healthy year, Hanson should get plenty of chances to
kick those 50 yard field goals we all love.
1. David Akers
San Francisco 49ers: With San Fran turning into a team relying on the defense,
and the legs of frank gore, David Akers might break his own record for most franchise
points in a season.
No
sleepers for kickers. There all late round picks. If you don’t happen to get
one of these in the first round, your fantasy season might be done.
Now
onto the second building block of your fantasy team the Defenses. You should
always reach on a defense in the second and third rounds. I’d even take one in
the first if those kickers I talked about above aren’t available.
Top 3
Defenses
3.
Baltimore Ravens: ok so the Ravens got a year older, and have also been bit by
the injury bug with the injury to star defensive player Suggs. This team is
still stacked though. With the addition of rookie linebacker Courtney Upshaw
and having Sergio Kindle step up they will have plenty of time to shine.
2
Pittsburgh Steelers: even though they are also a year older the Steelers are
still a very physical defense. They will definitely get to the Quarterback and
cause fumbles, and sacks and fumbles mean more fantasy points.
1. San
Francisco: No need for comment here. I will say this though Patrick Willis has
become one of the best middle linebackers right now.
3 Mid to Later round Picks
3. Philadelphia Eagles: With the
way they played last year people will let them fall, but with the addition of
DeMeco Ryan and subtraction of Asante the Eagles got a lot better. With a full
offseason there should be no more excuse for this defense to get back to elite
level.
2. Kansas City: With the defensive
minded coach Romeo Crenel taking over, and Eric Berry returning from injury
this defense will be dangerous.
1. Cincinnati Bengals: Cincy was
good last year. With the addition of Dre Kirkpatrick and the return of Leon Hall
this defense will take the ball away, and that means more points for you.
Next I’m going to talk about the
least important parts of your fantasy team, Tight ends, Wide Receivers, Running
backs, and Quarterbacks.
Top 3 Tight ends
3. Vernon Davis San Francisco 49ers:
Alex Smith was ok last year, but the biggest question is can he continue
success.
2. Jimmy Graham New Orleans Saints:
He’s a Tight end from the U do I need to say more. Graham is what gates use to
be but better
1. Rob Gronkowski New England
Patriots: Tom Bradys his quarterback and he’s just a brick wall that can run do
I need to say any more.
3 Mid
to Later round picks
3.
Jermaine Gresham Cincinnati Bengals: The Red Rocket Andy Dalton will just
continue to get better. This means his safety blanket Gresham will definitely
get more footballs thrown his way.
2.
Kellen Winslow Jr Seattle Seahawks: Had a bad year for himself last year, but Tampa
struggled as a team. In a new scene he should be a great target for whoevers
throwing him the ball in Seattle.
1. Greg
Olsen Carolina Panthers: The third U tight end on this list Olsen is on his way
to top tight end status. With a full offseason with Supercam, Olsen should build
more timing and comfort with his quarterback.
Top 3 Wide Receivers
3. Brandon Marshall Chicago Bears:
With a horrible tandem of quarterbacks throwing to him in Miami, Marshall was
still a probowl receiver. With Cutler throwing him the ball again Marshall has
actually guaranteed a super bowl.
2. AJ Green Cincinnati Bengals: Now
this is Fantasy I’m not saying Green is the second best player, but I’m saying he’s
the second best fantasy WR. I’m just going to let greens play show that he
deserves to be up here. Just watch the Red Rocket will get him the ball.
1. Larry Fitzgerald Arizona
Cardinals: I despise Larry. He helped my opponent last year beat me by one
point. All joking aside Fitz is one of the best receivers he doesn’t even need
a good quarterback to throw him the ball he’s that great.
3 Mid to Later Round Picks
3. Desean Jackson Philadelphia
Eagles: After the year he had no one will probably give him a look till late. He
got his contract, and should definitely play better this year
2. Reggie Wayne Indianapolis Colts:
Yea he’s a year older, but he’s still a good receiver. Also the colts are
definitely going to be a pass happy offense.
1. Demaryius Johnson Denver
Broncos: He’s a fellow Georgia Tech Wr
with Calvin Johnson (not on list due to Madden Curse). With Peyton throwing him
the ball this year he will be a lot better than he was last year as long as he
learns to run a route.
Top 3 RBs
3. Darren Mcfadden Oakland Raiders:
If D-Mac can stay healthy this year he will be a feared back in the AFC west.
2. Ray Rice Baltimore Ravens: one
of my Favorite backs ever since him and Brian Leonard where in the backfield at
Rutgers. He’s versatile like the number one back on this list. His quick cuts,
the third wheel move he uses, the quick burst out of the hole he’s just a great
all around back, and he will rack up fantasy points in both aspects of the
offense running and catching.
1. Arian Foster Houston Texans:
Foster was injured last year for several games, but still could have won the
rushing title. With games posting up 200 yards rushing and receiving how could
you go wrong with picking Foster?
3 Mid To Later round Picks
3. Demarco Murray Dallas Cowboys: I
might hate the cowboys but Murray is a beast, and will have another good
season.
2. Darren Sproles New Orleans
Saints: He runs, receives, and returns kicks and punts. Sproles shares the backfield,
but should still get a lot of touches he’s too good not to.
1. Marshawn Lynch Seattle Seahawks:
Just go and watch him carry the team on his back against the saints in the
playoffs a couple years ago. He goes into beast mode a lot.
The final Position Top 3
Quarterbacks
3. Peyton Manning Denver Broncos:
So weird seeing Peyton in a different jersey. He’s got a fire under his belly
and he’s ready to prove he can still play.
2. Aaron Rodgers Green bay Packers:
his stats and players around him show that he will be a top quarter back for
years to come.
1. Tom Brady New England Patriots:
He has the most weapons in the NFL, and plus he’s Tom Brady.
3 Mid to Later Round Picks
3. Brandon Weeden Cleveland Browns:
He’s failed once already in the Yankees farm system he’s not looking to fail
again. He’s mature and he’s ready to prove he can compete in the NFL.
2. Andrew Luck Indianapolis Colts: He’s
going to be in a really pass happy offense which will be down a lot. See Cam
Newton Last year.
1. Josh Freeman Tampa bay Buccaneers:
Make or Break year for Freeman. With the offensive line he has and wide
receivers he has this year he should succeed.
And
it’s come to the end of my first blog. This was fun you should follow me on
twitter and Facebook. I’ll be taking any questions or suggestions you, and I’ll
even take your criticism.
Nice list. Do you really think the Madden curse will continue on Megatron? I hope not.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about Aaron Hernandez at TE? I think he's a solid option even as the 2nd TE in the system. The Patriots throw the ball a lot, and he cuts like a wide-out. I think he'll have a breakout year.
I have #3 pick in my league. I'm thinking Foster and Rice will be gone. My plan is to go with LeSean McCoy. He had a great year last year. I'm surprised an Eagles fan wouldn't toss him in the top 3 backs. The guy was born to be Vick's safety valve, and when he gets into open space, he moves like a punt returner. What do you think about McCoy at #3 though?
I don't know about Megatron. i really hope it wont effect him as he is one of the best wide receivers, but the madden curse has never failed.
ReplyDeletei love Hernandez and he would probably be any where from 5-8 on my list of tight ends. Brady always shares the ball. Brandon Lloyd would probably be a good pick up as well.
Alot people have been upset with me about not putting him up there, but when Andy Reid comes out and says he ran McCoy way too much last year that makes me back off. plus with Dion Lewis, Bryce Brown and Chris Polk running great in training camp I can see another three headed monster coming to Philly very soon.
Yea and actually are you in a league with friends or random people most people take Aaron Rodgers number 1 overall. which doesn't make sense since the old saying is that running backs carry your fantasy team. last year i managed to get McCoy and MJD and i ran away with that league literally. now for the Number 3 pick id take a look at McCoy it cant hurt he will be up their with the best of them, but Forte, and Gore are other options if foster or rice arent there.
That third running back spot for me was up in the air i like mccfaddens chances if hes healthy though. No more bush to steal his touch downs.
The league is with friends. It's not a league dominated by quarterbacks, so I'm taking a RB no matter what. Forte just got his money, and Gore is hurt constantly. I'd rank Adrian Peterson, MJD, CJ and McFadden behind McCoy - but they all have their own injury or age issues. McCoy seems like the safe pick - thanks for the input.
ReplyDeleteMcCoy will do good an possibly carry your team. And no problem.
