Top 10 Fantasy Football Tight Ends

Ok as promised I’m back with the top tight ends. Tight ends are essential to most offenses and sometimes even more important because they use two tight ends. Ok let’s get into this list of quarterbacks best friends.

10. Owen Daniels Houston Texans TE: Owen is Schaub’s/Yates safety blanket in that offense with Foster and Johnson being the only other real options in the passing game. Owens will be a reliable option at TE this year no matter which QB is throwing him the ball.

9. Brent Celek Philadelphia Eagles TE: Celek played with a bad hip and herniated disk last year and still managed to get 811 yards and 5 touch downs. Only 6 tight ends had more yards than Celek. That being said he got surgery in the offseason and in my opinion he will be a great option at tight end with Mike Vick or Foles throwing him the ball.

8. Tony Gonzales Atlanta Falcons TE: Gonzo was around before Gates was even thinking about football. At his age he’s on the decline yes and this might be his last year, but he’s definitely still a nightmare for any linebacker or safety in the red zone. Especially with the rise of Julio Jones and the constant double teams on Roddy Matty ice will always look Gonzos way.

7. Jermichael Finely Green Bay Packers TE: Finely is in an offense that is stacked at every position, but Rodgers spreads the ball so well. I watched a NFL Network live mic of Rodgers last week and one thing that caught my ears was he said to Jennings “did I get you a touch down yet im trying to get everybody a TD”. That just means to me finely will get a td every week.

6. Aaron Hernandez New England Patriots TE: Even with Gronk being the number one TE Hernandez is still a viable TE1 in your fantasy league. Brady spreads the ball so much that everyone in that offense should start on any fantasy team. Hernandez is used as a TE/RB/FB/WR in that offense. Hes a deadly weapon and will definitely have a great year.

5. David Witten Dallas Cowboys TE: the injury could potentially be worse than what’s being reported, but Witten is a tough S.O.B. an yes he’s pretty high on this list created by an eagles fan. That being said Witten is Tony Homos Security Blanket not just safety, but security. When Romo gets in a jam he looks Wittens way all the time. With no viable option at third receiver Witten will have to be looked to even more once healthy.

4. Antonio Gates San Diego Chargers TE: Gates screwed me every way possible last year he played in several games where he got me 0 points. Yet I still ranked him high on this list yes he had a Foot problem last year, but this year he’s lost weight and said he’s in the best health since the injury. With the subtraction of both Vincent Brown and Jackson Gates is going to have to step up and be a major part of the offense again.

3. Vernon Davis San Francisco 49ers TE: Davis is one of the best tight ends every year since he entered the league. He’s got the speed of a receiver and the frame of a tight end. He could easily play wide receiver, but he creates mismatch problems by lining up at tight end. With smith having his best year at QB last year he’s only primed to have another good year. Which means Davis will be his favorite target once again.

2. Jimmy Graham New Orleans Saints TE: At the university of Miami jimmy played one year at tight end he was a basketball star. And we all know how well basketball players play in the NFL look up McNabb, Gates, and Terrell Owens just to name a few. Also jimmy has one of the most accurate QBs throwing him the ball in Brees. With them building timing they will only get better, and Jimmy will definitely have a break out year again most likely getting more yards than Colston.

1. Rob Gronkowski New England Patriots TE: Gronkenstein is a freak of nature, and with the golden arm throwing him the ball he will again break his own records at Tight End. He is easily number one on this list just because when he touches the ball he’s usually going to run down the field and run every player over trying to score a touchdown. You could make the argument that Brady has a lot of weapons including the number 6 tight end on this list, but all those players where there last year and Gronk still blew up.

And that’s the tight ends kickers will most likely be done in the next couple days got some stuff to do but ill be back quick. Well Madden ’13 does come out early on Saturday so I might be real busy with that. If you have any questions just hit me up on here, facebook or twitter whatever fits you best.
